On October 1, 2026, we submitted a 430-page Request for Evaluation to the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission, requesting individual landmark status for the entirety of Monastery Square—8902 Ridge Boulevard. That same day, we received a formal acknowledgment of receipt from Margaret Herman, LPC’s Director of Research.

 

Our RFE includes an 81-page historical narrative, 225 footnotes, a bibliography of 149 sources, 252 photographs, and contemporary newspaper accounts dating back to the 19th century. We also submitted a 30-page emergency burial-ground notice to LPC’s archaeology department.​
